Time for my (tech) porn story. I applied for a position as a Linux
administrator at a company in downtown Los Angeles. The perky secretary
that I talked with prior to the interview mentioned that the company dealt
in 'some' adult content.

Fast forward to the interview, on the 30th floor of a downtown building.
My interviewer asked if I was aware that they dealt with 'adult content.'
I said the receptionist had mentioned there was some adult content.
"Some?" he said, "It's 100% porn, that's what our company does."
Interesting.

>From the interview I gathered that their specialty was live entertainment,
which originated in the San Fernando valley and streamed primarily to
Japan. The position would require arrival before 7 AM (gee, that's 10 PM
in Tokyo) and work until 3 PM, which is the wee hours across the big pond.
They had a small sample of undersea fiber optic cable in a bell jar, and
when I inquired about it they said their company was responsible for a
'double digit percentage' of the trans-Pacific Internet bandwidth during
most hours of the day.

It seems there are severe restrictions on porn in Japan, so its devotees
opt instead for live sex shows from Los Angeles. Apparently the viewer can
ask for a particular act, for the appropriate fee, of course.

I didn't get the job, but it was an informative interview.
