I took lots of time to read engine.io too, I actually wanted to use it. 1. Its not ready and buggy, lots of things needs to be done 2. There is still a bunch of complicated stuff I don't need 3. Its just the transport, for scale we need actually everything socket.io does too
I have tried to fix the new socket.io with engine.io inside but I aborted it after some basic design problems in terms of interaction with storages.
