I would love to know about this as it's essential in a text editor imo.

This doesn't make sense to me. I can see editing local HTML files (.htm, html,
etc.) but a url is just a link to a file that is usually online. One almost
never has rights to edit such files.
If it is local, you could browse to it and edit it.
If it is on the Internet, you could open the URL in your browser, use the "File
> Save Page As..." or equivalent command, save the HTML code to a file local
to your hard drive, then edit _that_ file -- and you should see the "Edit with
Notepad++" for it in Windows Explorer. --Joel

I have no idea what you are looking for; I don't know what that other editor's
HTML library does.
There is syntax highlighting in Notepad++ for HTML already, but you might have
to tell Notepad that the text is HTML (Language menu > HTML menuitem). You
can set this to default on the New Document tab of the Preferences dialog, if
you edit HTML a lot.
If you are looking for a WYSIWYG editor, I recommend trying NVU or looking for
one like it. --Joel

Actually, I had Selection ticked in control+R, and the selection didn't cover
everything. This gets ticked automatically if anything is selected, making
it appear to behave erratically if you aren't aware of that.

Please could someone advise if there is any way to open notepad++ using a user
defined language as the default. I can see that the command line argument -l
will open some pre-defined languages, but cannot find any method to do what
I want.
Thank you in advance.

While coding html/css I often Alt/Tab from Notepad++ into Firefox. When I return
to Notepad++ using Alt/Tab I can no longer type until I use my mouse to regain
focus on the code in notepad++.
I was wondering whether this is a known bug in Notepad++ 4.02 or if there's
something wrong with my PC/Windows.
I've never experienced anything like this in previous versions.

When a document opne in Notepad++ loses focus (e.g. you do a search or give
focus to another program your PC is running) when you're it doesn't get focus
back.
For example:
You open 'file.php'
You press Ctrl+F
Search for something and close the Search box
Notepad++ doesn't give focus to the tab on top.
You need to do a Ctrl+Tab Ctrl+Shift+Tab to get the focus back.
All except this is perfect. I've been using Notepad++ for more than 1 year
now...
and I'm absolutely pleased with it. It's a great app!

Hi, i'm an italian user (of the italian version).
First to all I want to tell you thanks for this very good and very smart tool!
The reason why I write is because I want to say you an error that i've find.
When I say to the N# to save a new file that i've written and after I tell him
undo, I see the file as he's been saved.
And also if I continue to write, he cannot modify the status of saved.
After all if i close the file, the sw don't say me that it must be saved, and
so he close the file without any question (and more important without any
saving).
I think that it can be a good patch...
Thanks to all
AB

Hi, I've got the same problem and must admit that it's extemely annoying ...
I use applications these way that I jump from Notepad++ to other app(s) VERY
OFTEN and every time HAVE TO click back to the point the focus (cursor) was
last time ... Can't anybody do anything about it?! Answer, plz.
PS. Apart from this, the program is VERY USEFUL and user-friendly. Good job,
guys. :))
