Same problem with the default Explorer 1.4.
Upgrading to 1.5 did fix my problem.

Yes, the Explorer v1.4 plugin included with the NP++ 4.2 release caused NP++
to crash upon startup on my XP Pro system. When I updated the Explorer plugin
to v1.5, then all worked fine. It appears that others are reporting the same
experience.
I recommend replacing the v1.4 Explorer plugin in the 4.2 setup with v1.5.

problem about batch comments but not about tcl comments could you rapllace the
current line by <Language name="tcl" ext="tcl" commentLine="#">.

I Installed v4.2 by the installer EXE over the old v4.1.2 as an update and it
works fine under WinXP Home SP2. No crashes at all! Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C and so on
works also fine for me.

Hello,
New version of Explorer works, because of one simple reason:
The "Explorer.ini" and the "Favorites.dat" are stored now in the new
plugins/config
directory supplied by Notepad. If it's not available, they will be created new.
If you want to work with v1.4 you can delete the current "Favorties.dat" or
modify it. Please see below:

yep, very nice plugin, would be nice if this is a default one.
Is it possible to autosave unnamed files without getting a "Save As" dialog,
save them to a temp file
of some sort.
I always use my notpad++ as a scrable pad, where I just enter some useful text
for the day/week, dont
realy need to save it to a file
