Hello,
I have the same question... is there someone working on a latex plugin?
Notepad++ is a great tool but working with a LaTeX project needs several extra
functionalities.
(Predefinited Compile commands, Inverse and Forward Search (I think already
implemented), Project explorer, References and Bibliography support, ecc...)
Similar examples exist for other editors: Vimlatex for Vim, AUCTeX for GNU
Emacs,
ecc...
Unfortunately I am not skilled to do this job, but I think a plugin like that
would be a great improvement for the Notepad++ users.

What you are looking for is actually not just a text editor, but a simple HTML
editor. It might be that your email software (whether you use webmail or a
POP3 program like Outlook Express) would do what you need - try opening a
composition
window (like you would to write a new HTML-formatted email), type and embellish
what you need (colors, etc.), and then copy/paste it from there to the
composition
window in myspace. Does that work?

i have a bunch of local files in a folder and it's subfolders.
i want to do a search and replace on the whole thing.
i search ... and it returns 324 hits. great.
it shows the hits in the results window. how do i open all of those to perform
the replace action?

This is the way UltraEdit works. Notepad++ is the closest free replacement
for UltraEdit that I've found. This is one of the few shortcomings I've come
across with Notepad++, I hope this can get changed someday.

HarryBHarry, sorry - I just now noticed that you had a question in your post
- I missed that before.

Each multibyte character being split into two singles and rendered accordingly
- upper 128 ASCII characters like European vowels, upside-down question marks,
etc. Then if I try to change to UTF-8 after the fact, they change to black
squares with the hex code for each byte in them. Cute, but not very useful.
About half of what I use N++ for is related to Joomla, and I recently noticed
that they recommended that any edited files be in UTF-8 without BOM, so that
answers my BOM question. (The other half is my own applications, and for them
I don't care.)
Since I'm migrating any old Shift-JIS code to UTF-8 anyway, I'm okay if I
remember
to change the new open file to UTF-8 before I paste or type. I just wish I
could make UTF-8 the default instead of ANSI - everything I do is UTF-8, and
as I said, Joomla wants me to save my files in UTF-8 sans BOM even if they don't
contain any multibyte characters. Is there the possibility of changing the
default encoding in N++ for new files and files that when opened are not
detected
as being anything in particular? A registry entry, perhaps?

How do I turn off the auto update feature programmatically? We have multiple
users using Windows as Restricted Users, so the auto update notifications bug
them about something they have no control over. I want to turn off this feature,
preferably on a per-machine basis, rather than per-user.
I expected I would edit config.xml or config.model.xml in NotePad++'s program
directory, specifically <GUIConfig name="noUpdate">yes</GUIConfig>, but it seems
not.
Similarly editing the same files, the same way, in
%APPDATA%\Notepad++\config.xml,
had no effect.
There's no documentation I can find on this.

Osaka: I've tried what you suggest before, I thought that would work but I can't
find a way to see the codes. It just copies the text. Thanks for helping.
Gary: I've tried to do it in dreamweaver, but when you view code it is saved
in styles, and you've to copy the styles into the tags. Word, I haven't tried,
I've tried wordpad, but not word, I'll have a go at that.

Notepad++ has no option to choose which default from ansi or utf-8 w/o bom,
you have to manually select which one you want. I find it typical it doesnt
render the text correctly, but when you convert it it does know how to d it,
but if that solves the problem I guess theres not much more to do, since a
plugin
would have to do the exact same thing.

Please, I am (like most people from every country, including yours and mine)
doing the little effort it takes to write in English (despite I never learnt
it at school). That way I have just ONE language to learn.
If each of us starts to write in their own language, each of us will have to
learn ~200 languages.
If you really can't afford the effort 90% are doing, then please at least find
a forum nearer from your language (I don't even know which one it is: Russian?)
