I am also interensted in this. It was a sad day when I realized I couldn't
use snippets in the new version of notepad++!! I'd like to switch back, but
I'm using the portableapps.com thing and I just don't want to mess with it.

Hi,
I find my self looking up alot of code snippets and errors from N++, it would
be nice to have an inline browser to switch to, and even better keyboard
shortcut
to look up selected item in google...
Is this something complicated to develop?

a few suggestions to help improve the greatest editor of all time!
when clicking on the language menu, the menu goes off to the right side, should
go down only.
ctrl + F4 should close current opened tab
the close button on tabs should maybe be on by default?
plans for a 64-bit version?
digitally signing the context menu handler nppcm.dll and notepad++ executable?
this is to help prevent it getting highjacked by viruses
i would also like to see better file association where notepad++ simply takes
over MS notepad associations by default. now I know you can set up file
associations
inside notepad++ but it can mess up vbs, inf and reg file associations too.

Since I updated to version 5.2, notepad++ hangs when i open a .nfo file (what
is a plain text file).
Any idea what the problem is? Or is this a bug, if so, is it known?

hello
i am trying to make a different highlighting for some php functions (like
dreamweaver
has for "if" "while" "break")
the color is different from other functions listed at "word"
i have modified the files stylers.xml and langs.xml but is not working.
from what i understood, i have to create a new style in SciLexer.dll.
how to do this?
the style id would be 128 (i think) but i have no idea how to do this.
i have downloaded MinGW and the npp source files.
please, tell me what next.

Well, could have searched better, but didn't expect to have to go back as far
as 2007 (in fact, i only got this problem when i just updated notepad++, could
swear i came from version 5.1, but it must have been 4.*).
Oh well, removing all references to 'nfo' in the xml files in the notepad++
directory at least made it so that dos style is no longer used for nfo files.
(langs.model.xml, langs.xml, stylers.model.xml,stylers.xml)
Dos style itself still hangs when i try to use it.

I just got 5.3.1, and now there is a little marker in the margin when I make
a new line. I find this useless and annoying. I'm sure some people have a use
for it, but I do not. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to disable it. In the
preferences window under Edit Components, there is an option "Display line
change
state margin", but when I uncheck it, the marker in the margin disappears, and
instead the whole line is highlighted with that color.
It's odd that this feature was supposed to be in 5.3, but I never encountered
it until I got 5.3.1.

I don't think that's a bug...
That's the thing added to the Windows Context Menu by default when you install
Notepad++ for you to quickly open the file to edit with Notepad++ because most
of the time it isn't set as default...
I use that often...
