An AST transformation in a Grails 7 plugin that targets a private trait method can still compile and then lose that method on Grails 8. Using the annotated feature still throws `MissingPropertyException` for the internal property. There is no new compile-time diagnostic for this mismatch. The upgrade-guide note requested here is in section 23.2, "Groovy 4 trait and AST-transform bytecode": https://grails.apache.org/docs/8.0.x/guide/upgrading.html#_23_2_groovy_4_trait_and_ast_transform_bytecode Plugin authors should change the transform so it targets a member emitted on the implementing class, then rebuild and release the plugin with Groovy 5. Consumers cannot repair the published jar. That section landed in https://github.com/apache/grails-core/pull/16141 (`2c8b338f1ce`, 2026-08-12) and is in `v8.0.0-M6`, `v8.0.0-RC1`, and `v8.0.0-RC2`. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
