Reproduced independently at `e0aafeae3a` with a non-`AttributeError` raised
from the `id` property on the second of three dirty entities: attempted `[1]`,
retained `[1]`, entity 3's pre-state gone while the flush survives via the
outer backstop. So the suggestion above is the right remaining piece of the
isolation this commit set out to do. Not approving over an open confirmed
thread, but it is the last behavioral item from my side.
