Indeed, and I've got an even stronger suggestion - make all the tunebooks available free online. I'm involved in a project on the GHB side, to scan all the old manuscripts for the Piobaireachd Society and put them online (see www.piob.info). It's been found in a number of contexts that making a book available online for free doesn't harm its sales. It often actually helps. It depends of course on what sort of book it is, and how good it is, but it seems a general principle that high-quality books to which people refer frequently benefit from online availability. People browse the book on their PCs then buy a paper copy for convenience. This applies not just to music books (it's interesting to look at stuff online, but tiresome to balance your laptop on your music stand) but also to textbooks and the more frequently used reference books.
