I would like to know how I may use extended ascii characters in context, for example character number 167.
Thanks in advance

normally this is handled by font encoding and input regimes

if you want to directly access a char, how about:

\definesymbol[whatever][\getglyph{...}{167}]

see symb-*.tex for examples
