Hi Everyone,
After completely purging the installation I have found a ntopng-cert.pem,
which was not removed, under:
/usr/local/share/ntopng/httpdocs/ssl/ntopng-cert.pem
After removing the whole /usr/local/share/ntopng tree and reinstalling,
ntopng is now working again.
In the new installation there is also
a /usr/local/share/ntopng/httpdocs/ssl/ folder tree but it is empty.

Hi Yuri,
Thanks for your help. I am going to purge the whole configuration and try
from the begining. Somewhere in the middle from the basic LTS installation
to the actual stand, has been a change on the system that is not anymore
allowing ntopng to work properly.
I will post the results on the list if I find anything interesting.
