Did you follow the 1STRUN.txt instructions?

Usually ntop runs on port 3000 unless you've changed this via -w.  If that's not it, then read the system log for relevant messages.
where is this messages file
 /var/log/messages ??? this is null.

I can't find this file in
/usr/local/share/ntop/html
