I've noticed that in amongst all the criticism of poor security at Boston
airport, no-one has suggested paying the people who operate the metal
detector screens and x-ray machines a bit more than what they currently get
(which is reported as on a par with someone who flips burgers in a diner).
With CNN reporting a second debris site about 6 miles from the crash in
Pennsylvania that lends support to the phone calls about a bomb, I think
that there should be more pressure to implement existing security properly
before adding more.

All the talk about extra security sounds more like politicians and
bureaucrats trying to grab more money for their little empires - helped
along, of course, by the security industry. Hopefully, as days go by and
things calm down, common sense will prevail.

Nothing, yet. But there are real, and arugably justifiable, fears that
our civil liberties will be sacrificed as a result of these attacks.
