How do you turn off the virus scan via Veritas?  I have been looking for that.

No verify, No virus scan during the backup via Veritas.

Manually test your backups every couple weeks.

Exactly. I don't trust software verification either and <IMHO> it's not worth the time it adds to a backup job.</IMHO> Remove the verify and periodically restore a file as Rich mentioned.

IMHO - the best way to verify is to restore a file - I don't advocate back up software verification

Read the logs and compare it to an old log.

Check under the job--> Advanced tab

 

Make sure "Verify after backup completes" isn't checked. That would definitely double the time.

Hello, we backup our servers with a Dell DLT 7000 7 Slot Tape Drive, using Veritas Backup Exec. Ver. 8. For some strange reason it is taking double the amount of time to backup than it used to. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
