Lol, how many times do you need 64 vCPUs or 4TB of guest Ram versus needing to extend a disk?

Or 64 hosts per cluster? Seems like there are all sorts of corner cases where one product has functionality the other doesn't yet. For 99% of things they are feature compatible. It's all about the management and operations tools now. Hypervisors are almost commoditised, and will be within the next version or two.
