Did you verify the backups? That seems to be one of the main points where the backup is reported as corrupt. I found the discussion about this I was referring to at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=185256 and I see that even though they are recent posts, they mostly reference version 9, which is encouraging. By version 11 or 2009 this might be all fixed.

Thanks for the tip on the discount, Roger! I can definitely appreciate saving a few bucks these days. I see that's for version 11, not 2009. I'll have to download the free trial and try it in my environment this weekend. That's always the ultimate test, seeing if an app works properly when used in your environment the way you want to use it. Problems in other areas don't count, as long as they aren't areas you might be interested in later.

I've only been using it a few weeks, but all my test restores
(individual files, not complete images) have been 100% successful.

Just received this offer this evening:

Save 15% on Acronis TrueImage Home:

I've been looking at Vista backup solutions during the last few days
since I
had to replace my home XP system with one running Vista, and found my
old
version of Ghost isn't compatible with Vista. I saw complaints about
corrupted backups with Acronis that concerned me, though I have the
impression these were mostly with earlier versions. I have to check that

deeper. I know Acronis always gets rave reviews here, which means a lot
to
me. I found two other apps, ShadowProtect Desktop and Genie Backup
Mansger,
that look interesting. Has anyone here had experience with either of
them?

Acronis TrueImage Home very well. Automates the entire process with
full or differential backups, is fast to backup, simple to restore and
easy to manage.

I purchased version 11.x; the newest version (2009) came out a few weeks
ago.

Anybody have a good personal standalone backup for vista? It seems
like vista ultimate will only backup the whole computer or your user
settings. It does not seem like you can backup individual files or
folders.
