just not the same level of detail, and not inline where you can edit the *code*
as it sits ...

You can do reveal codes in Word. It's odd but I've done it. I'd have to dig
up my notes to figure out how I did that. I don't recall it being a basic
setting.

Maybe, but WordPerfect 8 didt show up until 1997 or so. By then they were
already fighting from a hole.

the *first* port of WP to windows was a push to GUI and WYSIWYG ... but even
the Corel Suite with WP8 was better than Word in my opinion ... and I *still*
miss the Reveal Codes feature

* maybe I disliked Word because it was so different from WP and what I had been
used to, a whole new learning curve ... for my 76 year old Dad, I still have
him using Corel Suite 8 with WordPerfect because it works, and is easy for him
... YMMV

Actually it was a superior word processor application until Microsoft Windows
3.x ushered in the era of Windows-based applications and the first Windows
versions of WordPerfect were absolutely dreadful.

WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS was a thing of beauty. WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows was
a steaming pile.

In my opinion.

IMNSHO WordPerfect was a superior word processor application before Microsoft's
marketing agression stomped on them to get Word market share
