Thank you for that pointer, Matt. When I'm working I always maintain a logbook of what I do but as this was just private interest I'd completely lost track of what things I had and hadn't tried both in terms of installs and examples. So after confirming that swarm.py seemed to be working (up to the point that I got bored of watching it doing its stuff) I decided to revisit the installation procedures this time with the help of virtualenv and tried out binary installation, build installation and build in developer mode. Now I just have to decide what if anything I want to do with nupic ...
