AMERICAN BITTERN LEAST BITTERN BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON SANDHILL CRANE GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE EURASIAN WIGEON BLUE-WINGED TEAL VIRGINIA RAIL BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER AMERICAN AVOCET UPLAND SANDPIPER RUDDY TURNSTONE BAIRD’S SANDPIPER WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER RED KNOT WILSON’S PHALAROPE BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER STILT SANDPIPER SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL BLACK TERN MERLIN COMMON NIGHTHAWK THREE-TOED WOODPECKER (Extralimital) OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER YELLOW-THROATED FLYCATCHER PHILIDELPHIA VIREO SEDGE WREN SWAINSON’S THRUSH GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH CAPE MAY WARBLER LINCOLN’S SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 9/07: At the Visitor’s Center 1 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER and 3 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were found along with10 species of shorebird. At May’s Point Pool 2 STILT SANDPIPERS, 1 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, and 1 WILSON’S PHALAROPE were seen. From the East road overlook an EURASIAN WIGEON and 2 SANDHILL CRANES were found. 9/08: From the East Road overlook the EURASIAN WIGEON, 4 SANDHILL CRANES, and 1 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON were seen. 9/09: The AMERICAN AVOCET and a WILSON’S PHALAROPE were again seen from an overlook south of the Thruway. 9/11 and 9/12: The “Muckrace” highlights. SEDGE WREN, SANDHILL CRANE, AMERICAN BITTERN, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, BARRED OWL, SCREETCH OWL, GREAT HORNED OWL, UPLAND SANDPIPER, COMMON NIGHTHAWK, STILT SANDPIPER, LONG-BILLED and SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, CAPE MAY WARBLER, EURASIAN WIGEON, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, SWAINSON’S THRUSH, GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH. 9/13: A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen at Knox-Marcellus Marsh from the East Road overlook along with 6 SANDHILL CRANED and i BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON. Oswego County ------------ 9/07: A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen in Hastings. 1 RED KNOT, 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, and 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were seen at Sandy Pond. 9/09: 52 GREEN HERONS were seen feeding at the Volney wetland on Co. Rt.6. Also found were 2 LEAST BITTERNS and a VIRGINIA RAIL.At Sandy Pond 34 species of birds were recorded. Highlights were RUDDY TURNSTONE, RED KNOT, SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, BLACK TERN, and 8 species of Warbler. 9/10: A PHILIDELPHIA VIREO was found at the Railroad Tracks in West Monroe. 9/11: A LINCOLN’S SPARROW was found in Hastings. Madison County ------------ 9/07: 10 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS were at the turf farm on Lakeport Road. 9/08: 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and 11 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS were at the turf farm. 9/10: 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, 13 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS, and 1 BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were at the turf farm. Onondaga County ------------ 9/09: An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was found at the Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. 9/10: 2 VIRGINIA RAILS were heard at Dead Creek on Connors Road south of Baldwinsville. 9/12: A MERLIN ws seen on Hoag Road south of Baldwinsville. A PHILADELPHIA VIREO and a GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER were seen in the Three Rivers WMA. Oneida County ------------ 9/11: 10 BLUE-WINGED TEAL were seen at Delta Lake.
