BRANT SANDHILL CRANE AMERICAN AVOCET WHIMBREL SANDERLING STILT SANDPIPER LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER RED-NECKED PHALAROPE LITTLE GULL Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 8/9: 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at the Audubon Center. 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were found at Puddler’s Marsh. 8/10: The 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were relocated at Puddler’s Marsh along with 9 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. At the Visitor’s Center 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS abd 2 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen. 8/11: 2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES remained at Puddler’s. They have not been reported since. At the Visitor’s Center 7 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 1 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER were seen. 8/12: An AMERICAN AVOCET was found at Puddler’s Marsh but was gone the following day. 8/14: 2 STILT SANDPIPERS were seen at the Visitor’s Center. Oswego County ------------ 8/11: 2 WHIMBREL were seen and photographed on the lighthouse breakwall in Oswego Harbor. 8/12: An early BRANT was seen at Derby Hill. Oneida County ------------- 8/15: An adult LITTLE GULL was found in the Company of 330 Bonaparte’s Gulls at Sylvan Beach. The approximate location was near 13th. Street.
