Date: Friday, 7 August 2009 (3:05p-8:10p)
Location: Central Park - reservoir, Ramble / lake, Cherry Hill & Cedar Hill
Reported by: Ben Cacace

It was a *very* quiet afternoon in the park.

The standout bird for me was the female plumaged *American Redstart* seen in
the Oven in the Ramble around 6:20pm.

Other sightings of note were *Gadwall* on the reservoir. The number was at
least 23 with an additional 5 seen on the reservoir south of this group.

*Cedar Waxwing* numbers climbed to at least 80 with a group of 50 and one of
13 flying over Cherry Hill around 7:30pm.

*Chimney Swifts* numbered at least 45 with a group of 30 over the Model Boat
Basin (Conservatory Water) around 8pm. I moved to a traditionally good site
for looking at Chimney Swifts going to roost for the evening but none of
these birds were seen then. Maybe the site for roosting has moved from a
known site visible from Cedar Hill.
