I cycled down to Ft. Tilden this morning hoping to find the Buff- breasted Sandpipers. Unfortunately, there were some folks playing soccer and the birds were gone. I did manage to find a consolation prize, though. I stopped at Dreier-Offerman Park on the way home and found a pair of Wimbrels foraging on the western-most field (they seemed to be eating snails). That was at approximately 1:30pm. I just got off the phone with Heydi Lopes and the birds are still present at 4:20pm. If you go, the main entrance is closed, but there is a temporary entrance and dirt road about 250 yards passed the main one (look for the orange cones) that will bring you to the parking area.

Good birding,

Rob
