European Next-Year Electricity Falls as Coal Price Declines By Lars Paulsson July 10 (Bloomberg) -- European electricity for next year fell as coal slipped for a third day, reducing generation costs for utilities burning the fossil fuel. Power for next year in Germany, Europe's biggest market, dropped as much as 1.50 euros, or 1.8 percent, to 82.50 euros a megawatt-hour and was at 83 euros ($130) as of 12:49 p.m. in Berlin, according to ICAP Plc. Prices in France, the Netherlands and Scandinavia also declined. European electricity prices have fallen from records this month as coal prices tumbled 10 percent in July.
