Morning I know the industry, and yes, you get what you pay for. They don't get a lot for there 12 hour shifts, and most of them are only armed with a radio, thus reluctant to 'respond'. To get the 'proper' guys would just cost too much.

In a country where unemployment seems to be such an enormous problem, if ineffectual/poor-performing security guards are not doing an adequate job, what is to prevent them from being replaced by eager, well-trained security professionals? Are the wages very low? Are there no incentives to encourage reliable performance? There must be some unemployed people who want a steady job they can take pride in. Am I being too naive and optimistic?
