You are using this distribution, so it's your responsibility to file the
bug.[1] 

Frankly, I can't believe this: distribution users telling the original
developers to cater for their distribution. What's next? Changing the
release times to be in time for the next Ubuntu release?
Just to put this in perspective: if Octave wasn't in Debian, it wouldn't
be in Ubuntu to start with.

[1] Filing it is useless, Ubuntu doesn't care about Octave packages,
just look at the currently open bugreports about Octave in Ubuntu.
