I use Octave to cure cancer. Well, it helps. In radiotherapy physics
we measure distributions of ionising radiation dose. Lots of
repetitive data, so a scripting language that plots is extremely
handy. I have found that as I keep my hand in, I find lots of niche
uses. I used it to prepare figures for this paper (for example).
