We indeed do exactly that, and infact we break the forms, units, dialog,
reports and other stuff into seperate directories to try and keep the
on-disk files as clean as possible.

Exactly correct. At present the Project Manager (D4/5) is a simple list of
your project files. Extending this to a hierarchy would make organisation
much better.
