Hi Dan, of course I understand this. Frequently monitor your stock price (and related "analyst" news). It doesn't always need to be such a huge costly event (like the Network computing [product launch and Wallstreet-impress] conferences of the pre2004 past), where Sun had to rent the top #1 location exhibit halls for half a week. Just something. Here we are talking about OpenSolaris development. From nieche experts to likewise. Unlike Java-One this will never get too much press coverage. So it can take place somewhere at a Campus-backyard or basement: Some small rooms, microphones, laptop&projectors, something to eat, maybe a handful T-shirts and a glass or cup or sticker. Plus the content and some good mood and a few handshakes. Then I think this needs to be made more public in misc. external UNIX newsgroups - and like the last times again on misc. social networking sites. I would say, that in today's age actually discussing and developing technical aspects is well possible online and via phone-conferences (as it is happening all the time). The summits were good for giving previously unknown names real faces, and therefore effectively for some true community building. I'm glad to hear you plan to continue this series after the worst recession-clouds will have moved away. Just make it a bit slimmer. I mean whatever small UG cannot even spend 200$. But this doesn't mean Sun must spend 200 _thousand_ $ every time. Looking forward to the next one. %martin
