A couple of us down here in Atlanta, Georgia are putting together a rules supplemental
to take the d20 system live action. Last time we put together a system, we ended up
completely replacing White Wolf's Mind's Eye Theatre product line with a card based
system that let you use the original rules. While this made for much more exciting
(and balanced) play, it took the four of us months. Before we went too crazy (too
late), we wanted to see if anyone else had already started so we could work as a group
(it is OPEN system).
The system we are alpha-testing involves using a card based system to handle the d20
rolls and using fixed damage (d4=2, d6=3, etc.). One of our big testing points right
now is what numbers to use for the fixed damage and how to handle crits.
The system seems workable from initial testing. It is almost entirely cheat-proof
(which is unfortunately needed for at least one person in most LARP crowds), seems to
generate outcomes very similar to the table top version, and requires no "compromise"
rules like the MET system for White Wolf.
