Hey Doug: If the parts from the "STAR WARS" system are not released under the OGL, then you have just created a "fan" work. You can release it under the "online use policy", but not under the OGL. Alternately, you could "reverse engineer" the parts of the "STAR WARS" system that you used, reducing them to their essential rules elements, then expressing those rules in your own words. THEN you could release under the OGL, BUT if you do this you are abandoning the "safe harbor" that the OGL provides - ie: WotC could review your document and then claim that you violated their copyright for the copyright STAR WARS stuff. If the "STAR WARS stuff is ALL your own words AND does NOT contain WotC/STAR WARS standard methods of expressing statistics (ie: standard stats blocks), or WotC trademarks, then you would *probably* be safe ... BUT IANAL. Faust NEW TO THE LIST? GET THE *REAL* TRUTH (::GRIN::) ABOUT THE HIDDEN CONSPIRACIES BEHIND THE OPEN GAMING FOUNDATION. OK, after months of putting it off, I got down and finished The Craft of the Mind version 1.0 Everything in the file is now good and self consistent...
Only, it now contains parts from the Star Wars Force system, so I can't do anything with it... can I?
Suggestions, comments, and ideas are most appreciated.
