I didn't mention downtime; I mentioned "support."  The exact words were "in
many situations."  Even with the added hand-holding, I doubt that putting
Linux on every machine in the NYSDEC would help at all--and having some Linux,
some Windows increases the IT stress.

Windows has the same advantage that D&D does... it's the dominant force and
"easy" to use, even if it's lacking in some advanced features.  (Of course,
D20 and 3e are like MS making a Linux-based Windows OS.)
