I hadn't heard that, at least not in that way. My impression was that the
system reference document was created for the purposesof defining not only
what is open content (meaning OGL), but also define which closed IP can be
used freely with the D20 STL. AND, restrict how certain terms can be used.
WHat the SRD does is say, This is a Mind Flayer, this is the Stat block and
basic description. All Mindflayers in a D20 Work must use this information.
In essence they are protecting there IP by forcing it on you.
Sure, you can use our terms, but If you want it to be D20, the terms must
refer to this.


Another simple option: taking the example of +2 vs race enemy.Simply write
the text block above/below the Stat block for the race. Clearly mark that
they go together. then shade in the box containing open content. That way
all the relevent stats are together, but the Closed IP is unique from the
Open.
