I appreciate that Clark, really, and I think many people will be willing to
grant permission for co-operative ventures so long as we are talking about
small-vendor RPG games. It is when we get outside of our little microcosm
that things go all to hell. Trademark law is pretty good law as such things
go, and largely independent of the chaos let loose upon the marketplace by
open source and digital distribution. Lots of smart people came up with
those laws over years of haggling with each other. I don't want to throw
that away because WotC is scared someone will use one of their marks and
they won't be able to stop them.
I REALLY LIKE the idea of requiring permission for marketing and
advertising, but the rest is too much.
