You misunderstand. The ability to target the ready meter means that you can
chain an attack that targets your OWN meter. So, for normal attacks that drain
50%, you chain to an attack that targets the ready meter, and drains 50%. The
special attack that costs 500 MP to cast can chain to an attack that drains
100%.

Do note that the ready meter-targetting attacks can be invisible, and don't
have to be obvious.
