Now that this feature's been released, we'd like to circle back to improving core OL features, like Merging Works :) Flagging works for deletion is a great idea - I'll put that on our list. In the meantime, feel free to send us lists of stuff that could/should be cleared out. Sorry it's taking us a while!!
