Your water outlet drain plug is rearward toward the bell housing.  That litttle 
copper tubing.....there where it goes into the block there is this cover plate. 
 3 screws hold it on.  below that is your return hole.

Running off the oil pressure gauge was my original thought and I assumed 
that would be the input. However, that plug on the same side you describe is 
where I had intended to put the outlet side. Thats when I discovered it was 
the water jacket drain plug. (I checked the manual and sure enough, thats 
what it is.). I looked for another plug and didn't find one.
