Hey Kurt, thanks for the info on the Monroe website. I kinda figured that there
must be some info out on the web about custom choosing a particular shock by
mounting specs and length, etc. Especially with the popularity of lower and
raising of vehicles in the last several years. I'll check it out.

I've been driving this truck around for 6 years without rear shocks and its ok
most of the time. There are several circumstances around here when it is very
annoying and darn near dangerous without them. Recent road construction around
here has prompted me to move installing rear shocks up on the priority list. I
realize how important they can be for keeping the rear tires on the ground.
Hitting these bumps from the old pavement to the new while negotiating the
temporary chicanes will send the rear duallys in the air and set them down
about foot sideways with a bone jarring hit. If you aren't paying good
attention, you'd either take out the car next to you or the temp concrete
barriers. I can drive the truck without them, but I don't have to.

I don't think the 3100 stuff will work. Different frame altogether from the cab
back. My 3800 doesn't have a crossmember near the rear axle. Theres one about
2' forward and one 2' behind.

As I methodically reduce the rattles, it can't hurt to smooth the ride first.
