There's a point in there where the life expectancy of the various light bulbs
you have will drop as they were intended for 6-7 volts. Thus perhaps setting
the VR for 8.0 might be plenty.

The voltage regulator is adjustable for the out put of the generator, thus
keeping the battery charged. I do not know what the setting is on a 6 volt
system. On a 12 volt system the alternator puts out 14.2 volts, keeping the
battery charged to 12 volts. Thus an 8 volt system will require 9 volt setting
on regulator, more or less.

I got curious about Mike's comment of "had to jack up the voltage regulator",
and read an article about the theory of it, but can you tell me exactly how to
do that? If it's too complicated, I may just get me another 6V battery. I'm
actually just stalling until this spring when I hope to start taking all the
body parts off of the 3600 for body/paint, and after that, consider the
conversion to 12V with new harness, etc.
