FYI: I used the RPM build at:

http://people.apache.org/~arielch/packages/r1293550/linux_x86/OOo_3.4.0_Linux_x86_install-rpm_en-US.tar.gz

I didn't do*MAJOR* testing (didn't use the test sets), just a few things on
my own. So far, so good!
