Actually, the wording in the original post points to the OP is using Windows. If I remember correctly, AOO on windows does not have an E-mail choice: only Proxy and Search. There appears to be a problem in the "Default Programs" in the Control Panel. The question seems to be, What is the setting for e-mail in "Default Programs"?

Rachel,
Click the disclosure arrowhead (little triangle thingy) to the left of the word
"Internet". You should then see three choices: Proxy, Search, and E-mail. Click
E-mail
The only thing this choice will allow you to do is to set the e-mail client by
either typing in the entire path, or browsing the file system and selecting it.

If you select "OpenOffice->Preferences..." and your dialog does not behave as
described, it's likely that something's wrong with your AOO installation.

Mike,
Go to OpenOffice->Preferences
Select "Internet"
Direct OpenOffice to your Mail client, e.g., /Applications/Mail.app
Click the OK button to accept. Should work after that.

The problem is simply that AOO doesn't know where your e-mail program
resides.

Thanks for your response Martin,

*File --> Send ... Document as E-mail**..* brings up the following two
messages:

"There is no email program associated to perform the requested action.
Please install an email program, or if one is already installed, create
an
association in the "Default Programs" control panel"

"Open Office.Org was unable to find a working email configuration. Please
save this document locally, and attach it from within your email client."

This has nothing to do with file associations.

Hello,

Since I have installed the latest version, I am not able to directly
email
a document. I can only add it as an attachment.

I have checked my file associations and Open Office has been made the
default program in every case.

What more can I do?
