Just to clarify, I do not mind a paying a few hundred for the "prototype
prototype". I will twist arms at Red Hat to pay for it anyway, or even
buy it myself. Or accept a hardware donation through some
to-be-established donation scheme.

I estimate that the immediate demand for "prototype prototypes" at Red
Hat will be 3 or 4. That would break down as:

  - One for me

  - One for one of the DRI guys, to do a reality check on the DRI
    interface

  - One for one of the freedesktop.org developers, to do a reality
check on supporting the new render model

  - One up for grabs

Note that I am not speaking officially for Red Hat, it is an informal
estimate.

That sounds eminently sensible. As soon as we get the first
prototype-prototypes, I think we need to re-run the poll and see how
many pre-orders we can get for the larger run of "production
prototypes".

My dream is to see thousands of relatively inexpensive "prototypes" in
the hands of people who can help, as you know.

Regards,

Daniel
