What is the state of the art as far as infrared photography?
The TV show _Ask_This_Old_House_ showed an infrared camera
being used for an energy audit. It didn't appear to need
liquid nitrogen or anything.

This guy uses a Fujifilm S3 Pro modified with a UVIR filter instead
of Bayer (so basically it shows everything but visible light in B/W):

That is interesting and a little strange since an optical SLR is
basically useless for IR/UV photography except for use on a copy stand
to examine documents, painting, etc.. Yes, you can use it on a tripod
and, yes, you can almost see through a #89 filter, but a rangefinder
camera is better. In either case, you have to adjust the focus for IR.
OTOH, this is clearly a case where an EVF is the best choice. IIUC, you
can use the LDC on the Fuji as a viewfinder.
