My own 2c is that I'd prefer Mercurial. Historically Git has not been
very nice to use on Windows (i.e. horrible and slow - problems of
msysgit's console). I see now that TortoiseGit may now be usable - if
so, that would solve some problems.

In any case, I would push stronger for Mercurial except that several
of you Avogadro developers have been using Git, and so will be able to
explain everything to us n00bs and be able to come up with a sane
workflow for the project. If this isn't the case, now might be a good
time to say so, so that I can start preparing my Mercurial arguments
:-)
