Another bit of information on the image conversions - I have been using
ImageMagick 6.8.9-0 Q16 x86_64 2014-05 (http://www.imagemagick.org) from
MacPorts (https://www.macports.org/ports.php) to do all of the conversions.

e.g.

convert original-2.gif original-2.png
