Yeah, they're relevant. I'm not sure how you did it before because
I've
had to do these things since I started using courier from ports on 3.6
(i'd recommend installing from ports because there are tools that get
compiled but not installed but you can still run from the tree -- ie.
authtest, which would be real handy about now).
I'd recommend running out to the bookstore and picking up a copy of
'the
book of postfix'.
It's got a killer section on configuring courier. The book itself is
a
little out of date, but so are the courier packages (last I checked).
I wish I could help more, but my last courier server was
decommissioned recently and I can't look.

Thanks for the reply.
It's now after 3:00am, and I'm not getting much of
anywhere.
This new courier setup with the different config files
than I'm used to in /etc/courier have really messed
me up with 4.1.
I'm trying to do just like I've done for years.
(in fact I have a 4.0 server that came up easy in
the other room)
sendmail with procmail, then using courier imap
and pop3.
It's now to the point that my email client doesn't
give me an error anymore, but it just logs on and
acts like there's not email in the mailbox, when in
fact there's probably 15 emails.
When I check /var/log/mailog, it shows no sign
that I even logged on to check my mail.
As many hours as I've spent on this, I can't
believe I'm the only person who's had trouble with
trying to do this with 4.1.
Well after messing with this for abut 18 hours and
getting nowhere, I guess I'll crash.
If anybody has any idea what simple thing I'm
doing wrong, I hope you'll pass it on.
Thanks, Ed
