We probaly should formally get registered somewhere as not-for-profit 
organization. Being international, it probably doesn't matter where we do so, 
and thus we could do it at minimal or no cost in whatever country supports 
not-for-profit organizations (Australia does not at all). To my best 
knowledge (if things haven't changed drastically in the past decade), in 
Germany you can register for next to no fees if you can prove that your 
organization is a)non-profit orientated and b) having goals that suit public 
interest.

That way, we would be a more "formal" organizations without the need to go 
bureaucrazy. Regarding the money we incidentally might need (like this HL7 
fee - I would be happy to "shout" a few hundred bucks where it makes sense) 
I'd rather suggest we rely on ad-hoc donations. Maintenance and 
administration ofregular funding is t just a pain in the bottom for an 
organization like ours.
