The FreeMED Software Foundation has acquired a critical mass of participants over the past eight years and has developed a customizable open source practice management that has tested and certified HIPPA compliant medical billing that is being used by many practices around the US.

The FSF has gained substantial support from supports and donors and grants that are allowing it to fund iniatives to support the use of open source practice management systems for solo practices, small groups and community clinics (FQHCs), etc. The Foundation is working to provide support as well as software development.
