I've updated the issue with my take on it, steps to reproduce, and voted. The bit about an applet is misleading. The problem is that provisioned nodes don't contain the correct entry in the iphostname column of the ipinterface table, instead of the resolved name from DNS it contains the ipaddress. I'm 100% sure there is no DNS issue. If I recall correctly (although I'll have to double check), I see the hostname in the provisiond log, it's just not persisted in the DB correctly.
