Hi Doug,

Do you have any details of the current state of your efforts with the
OpenPKG AIX port?

i.e. How you are using it and what special steps need to be taken to
get it to work (in your environment)?

I recently tried to build the the bootstrap shell script from
openpkg-2.5, openpkg-2.STABLE, and openpkg-CURRENT shell scripts only
to find that on AIX 5.3[1] that while the openpkg.sh script builds a
openpkg bootscript script running it only provides an rpm database
with the gpg-pubkey rpm. The openpkg rpm itself does not get
installed. Thus the instance is unusable. This behaviour is
consistent on ALL openpkg.sh scripts.

I looked at my original notes (on the OpenPKG Twiki
http://wiki.openpkg.org/?BuildingOpenPKGunderAIX) when I was trying to
build on AIX 5.1 on a smaller PowerPC model, but things have
progressed quite a lot since then and last time I looked there was no
other documentation of getting AIX to work with OpenPKG.

I suspect some sort of error condition is not being trapped by the
openpkg shell script and therefore the bootstrap shell script is not
being built correctly. That or I am missing a component and the build
failure is not being detected.

Before I look more closely I wanted to ask you if you can provide any
other feedback on AIX as you appear to be the only person actively using
it on AIX, even if it is incomplete.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Regards,

Simon
