OK - working on AIX 5.1 w/32-bit kernel.
Hi Doug,
Do you have any details of the current state of your efforts with the
OpenPKG AIX port?
i.e. How you are using it and what special steps need to be taken to
get it to work (in your environment)?
<< SNIP >>
Here's a summary of what I did to get the initial OpenPKG-STABLE
bootstrap built (also works on AIX 5.1 & 5.2):
Built with following IBM rpm's: gcc-4.0.0-1, gcc-cplusplus-4.0.0-1,
libgcc-4.0.0-1, libstdcplusplus-4.0.0-1,
libstdcplusplus-devel-4.0.0-1, m4-1.4.1-1, make-3.8.0-1
Must comment out 'readonly LOGNAME' from /etc/profile (this is why the
rpm isn't being built).
Set LDFLAGS to “-lm”
Must install bos.adt.* filesets (headers)
Must install X11.Dt.* & X11.adt.* filesets (X11 headers)
ln -s /etc/rc.d /etc/init.d BEFORE installing
Make sure that /etc/security/limits is set to “-1” for the default user
(some programs won't build, including GCC)
Upgrading REQUIRES using -Duse_cc=gcc (internal perl doesn't like CC)
Thanks. Is it worth me (or you) putting this on the twiki? At least others
won't get caught by this if trying to use OpenPKG?
Simon

I can put it in but I'm not quite done with my documentation. Give me
the link so I can update it later.
